Diary of a Black Angel

The school year 2011-2012 proved to be yet another glorious year in
sports for the Ateneo De Manila University. First was the championship
won by the Men’s Basketball Team in the Senior’s division of the
University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Their
victory will never be forgotten because they achieved the 4-peat and
this victory was a big factor in giving motivation and courage to all
the players to give their best in all the competition that they have
joined throughout the school year. These guys also joined other league
where they also played well. They bagged the third place award in the
FilOil Flying V Pre-season Hanes Cup. Being a third placer is not bad.
Although they didn’t win the championship, these athletes gave their
very best for this achievement.

As the Blue Eagles bagged the championship crown in the UAAP Season
74, the Lady Eagles got their First Runner-up award in the UAAP
Volleyball tournament and they bounced back in the Shakey’s V-League
where they bagged the championship crown. The Blue Batters also won
First Runner-up in the same league, UAAP. This was very memorable to
almost everyone because this was the first time that the Baseball team
of the Ateneo made it to the finals.

This school year have brought so much happiness to the Ateneo
community. This will never be forgotten by the teachers, fans and
every Ateneo student especially the Seniors who graduated and bid
their goodbye to their Alma Matter.

Congratulations Blue Eagles and Goodluck to the upcoming season of the UAAP! :)

There are 2 or 3 more months left before the much awaited league starts. Yes, it’s time of the school year again when spirit runs deep in your veins and pride as well up in your throat giving strength to those roaring cheers. This is the time where students, teachers and the entire school community unite as one to support their respective teams. This is also the time where basketball fans become hyped.

Every year, each team loses their key players but each year also they look for the best player that will replace the spot that have been left. Most of you are all excited to see who the rookie of each team is.

There are a lot of Colleges and Universities that offered him to play for their school team, but this guy chose to be in La Salle. Jeron Teng is the rookie to watch of the De La Salle University. Yep, he’s
the son of former PBA cager, Alvin Teng and the younger brother of UST Growling Tigers’ Jeric Teng. During his high school days, Jeron already created a name for himself. No wonder almost all of the basketball fans out there are waiting for him in the UAAP. (I’m one of those fans who can’t wait to watch him play) There are a lot of people who can’t wait to watch him play against Kiefer Ravena, who is one of the best players in the league.

For now, I will only name one rookie. I haven’t seen the rookies of the other teams yet. I have seen Chris Porter of Ateneo though. But I haven’t seen him play yet. So till next time :)

Yesterday, the San Beda Red Lions defeated the Ateneo Blue Eagles with the score of 63-61 to grab the solo lead in the FilOil Flying V Pre-season Hanes Cup. It was a very tough game. Ateneo was leading with as much as 16 points in the first half but the Red Lions roared back at the last 4 minutes of the regulation to take the lead.

Ola Adeogun led the San Beda with his 16 points and 13 rebounds. Baser Amer and Rome Dela Rosa also finished with double figures. On the other hand, Greg Slaughter made a big 24 points and 13 rebounds followed by Kiefer Ravena who made 10 points.

Ateneo fell to its first loss as they failed to stop the roaring Red Lions in the second half.

Scores:
San Beda 63- Adeogun 16, Amer 14, Dela Rosa 10, Armon 8, Koga 4, J. Pascual 4, Caram 2, Lim 2, K. Pascual 2, Ludovice 1, Bonsubre 0, Mendoza 0.

Ateneo 61- Slaughter 24, Ravena 10, Salva 6, Gonzaga 6, Chua 6, Tiongson 3, Elorde 2, Sumalinog 2, Erram 2, Golla 0.

Quarter scores:
8-20, 23-26, 39-48, 63-61

Meet the hottest hardcourt twins, David John and Anthony Paul Semerad.

Anthony Semerad David Semerad

They are half-Czech and half-Filipino. The brothers are born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, where they finished their grade school and high school education. They went here in the Philippines to pursue a college degree. They’re currently taking up Business Marketing at San Beda College. It’s difficult to know who’s who because these guys are so alike. Same height and same weight. They both have Czech Lion tattoo on their biceps and a Sun on their triceps so they will never forget their family’s heritage. But you’ll know who David is because he has this “faith” tattoo on his arm to remind him he has to have faith in everything he does. On hardcourt, you can easily know who’s David and who’s Anthony. David wears jersey number 14 while Anthony wears jersey number 6. David plays as power forward and the latter plays small forward. This twin knows how to do their work in court; they hustle and dive for loose ball.

Anthony and David are both responsible; since their parents are abroad they take care of themselves. They do the household chores and they cook their food.

In an interview the twin said they were brought up on Filipino food. “We eat rice every day. We can’t live without rice.” Anthony shares. “We cook mostly Filipino food” David added. They can cook Adobo, Pansit, Sinigang na Bangus, Asado and Tilapia. “Name a Filipino food and we cook it.” Anthony said. “For variety, we cook European food or Asian food. Like Japanese and Chinese.” David added.

They’re really the same; both of them are sweet and down-to-earth. And the most important thing in their lives is their family. Just like any other twins, When Anthony gets sicks then David does. But this twin also has their difference- their personalities. David is more going and he’s more gwapo daw.

I think as of now, this twin is spending their residency in Ateneo. They will soon play for the Blue and White Squad.

To know more about this hot and nice twin, you can follow them on Twitter, @AnthonySemerad and @semeraddave.

Some of the informations are from Ricky Lo’s interview.

Christopher John Alandy-dy Tiu is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in this generation. He is the man behind the successful Happy Lemon. Chris is the perfect guy who every girl wanted to bring home to their parents. He has all the qualities that every guy in this earth wanted to have. He’s a very nice guy, he’s intelligent, talented and to add more, he’s also a good looking man. He plays very well in the field that he chose. He was one of the players who represented the Philippines in the last SEA Games. This is the proof that he’s really a good baller. And no wonder almost all of the girls get kilig when they saw him play the piano. Admit it girls, when he delivered all those pick-up lines in Bubble Gang you all feel the butterflies in your tummies. Even me, I wish I was Sam Pinto that time.

I’m his number one fan since his Ateneo days; I remember my sister and I always buy those magazines where he was featured. During his games you can see me as the girl who always screams in front of TV whenever he scores. When he started his career as a TV host, I always watch his show. I think his first show was with Manny Pacquiao then followed by Ripley’s Believe it or not. I always support him in every little way that I can. Chris serves as my inspiration to do the best that I can. He became my inspiration because he was able to manage his studies and all his responsibilities.

When Chris was still playing for the Blue and White Squad, I never had the chance to watch him play live. My parents won’t allow me to coz I’m still a high school girl that time. I’ve always wanted to have a picture with him. Now that I have all chances to have a picture with him, hindi ko parin magawa. Hindi kasi ako makasingit sa mga girls na gusto rin magpapicture.

This is the only picture that I have when I watched Fastbreak last January 6, 2012.

I hope one day I will have the chance to be with him in a picture. As in yung dalawa kami. :)

I will always be your number one fan, Chris! Congratulations to all your success! ♥

He’s one of the successful players of the Ateneo Blue Eaglets who made
it to the seniors’ division of the UAAP. He’s none other than Juan
Miguel B. Tiongson. The 5 foot 9 Tiongson plays as the point guard of
the Blue and White squad. He wears jersey number 5.

Since there will be a three open roster spot for the next year of the
UAAP. Tiongson is a clear cut candidate for the point guard position.

This season will be the season of Juami Tiongson. He will take his
spotlight. Tiongson proved his skills in the PSC Unigames. He total
scored for almost forty big points. This gave him the possibility to
be the starter for the next season.

Tiongson is the playmaker of the blue crew. He leads his teammates in
court. But aside from being a playmaker, Juami is also a scorer. He
can do a simple pull up jumper or even a three. In the second game of
the PCCL’s championship game, Juami gave his very best. Kiefer & Nico
didn’t play well during the game. Juami is the one who led the blue
and white in scoring. He scored 11 points yesterday.

Juami deserves to be in the starting five. I really hope that in
season 75, he will be given more playing time. Goodluck Juami!
